Seth Rogen and James Franco forgot one thing when making The Interview: you won’t offend anyone if you go after a tyrant who’s already dead.

Okay, maybe that’s not entirely true, but the next team of people likely to stir international controversy over a silly comedy are Borat director Larry Charles and none other than Nicolas Cage in their new satire Army of One.

The Hollywood Reporter first had details on the new project Wednesday, in which Cage plays an ordinary guy from the States who takes it upon himself to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden. The film is loosely based on a GQ article about Gary Faulkner, a 50-year-old man from Colorado who, according to the piece, “had been found high in the mountains of Pakistan near the Afghan border carrying a sword, a dagger, a pistol, and night-vision equipment” on a one-man quest to kill bin Laden.

Of course, this is the director of Borat we’re talking about, so the film is intended to be improvisational and quite possibly the greatest, most crazy thing Nic Cage will ever do.

Army of One is set to start shooting this March, is shooting for a release by the end of this year, and has already picked up distribution rights from The Weinstein Company.

But if you’re going to kill Osama bin Laden, you need a plan first. When asked what Cage intends to do, he replied, “I’m going to steal the Declaration of Independence.”
