12 years a slave

Filmmaker Steve McQueen turned a lot of critical heads in 2008 with his feature film debut Hunger, with many praising the filmmaker’s efforts. McQueen similarly garnered acclaim with his follow-up feature Shame, which ended up on numerous top 10 year-end lists, and leaving his numerous fans highly anticipating his next feature. For his third go-round, however, the filmmaker chose to go with an adaptation for the first time, working with a script from Red Tails scribe John Ridley. McQueen reunites with Michael Fassbender once again, who’s joined onscreen by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, and Michael K. Williams. The first trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.
