The story of baseball player Jackie Robinson is one that has transcended sports history to embed itself as a milestone in American history. The first black player to successfully make the roster of the then white-only Baseball League, Robinson broke the door open for generations of players who came after him, suffering the brunt of the public’s dislike along the way. Thus, when a movie about Robinson’s life was announced, it came as little surprise, and its necessity was in even less dispute. Filmmaker Brian Helgeland takes on both writing and directing duties for the project, titled 42, with Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni, Alan Tudyk, T.R. Knight, John C. McGinley, and Brett Cullen playing supporting roles to Chadwick Boseman, who takes on the role of Robinson. A new trailer for the feature has now been released, and can be seen below.
