Behind the Candelabra

Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has been a respected director for several years, successfully making both commercial blockbusters and small arthouse projects with equal ease. Following last year’s announcement that the auteur would be retiring, many looked forward to his final projects to see how he’d go out. His last theatrical effort, Side Effects, released earlier this year, Soderbergh had one final movie up his sleeve, an HBO biopic on the life of entertainer Liberace. Titled Behind the Candelabra, the movie is written by The Bridges of Madison County scribe Richard LaGravenese, and stars Michael Douglas, Matt Damon, Rob Lowe, Dan Aykroyd, Scott Bakula, and Paul Reiser. The first trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.
