Sound On Sight is slowly dipping its feet more and more into the world of television and why not, considering in many ways the small screen is dominating over major motion pictures these days. For those of you who don’t know, we have now began a weekly Sound On Sight TV Spotlight podcast, in which we will discuss our favorite shows in great detail. One of those shows just happens to be the hit TV series Breaking Bad. While it might not be the best show on television (see Justified), Breaking Bad has offered the most “WTF” moments and quite possibly some of the best closing scenes to any series season finale in the history of television.
The AMC American television drama series created and produced by Vince Gilligan follows the story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at the beginning of the series. He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine with his former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), with the aim of securing his family’s financial future.
The show received widespread critical acclaim, particularly for its writing and cinematography as well as for Cranston’s and Paul’s performances and has so far won six Emmy Awards—including three consecutive wins for Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Cranston—in addition to numerous other awards and nominations. It is also known for having several big names direct several episodes including Rian Johnson (Brick) and Peter Medak (Romeo Is Bleeding).
After last year’s breathtaking finale, we all eagerly await the next chapter. Well the wait is nearly over. AMC has finally announced that the fourth season of Breaking Bad will premiere on July 17 and they have put together a one minute teaser trailer to whet your appetite. Enjoy!
Here’s the brief description of season four from the AMC website:
Once you break bad, you never go back. In Season 4, the game has changed: Walter White has lost his family and is on the verge of being caught; Jesse wants back in the business.
