Cannes 2015: Michael Fassbender shows ferocity in first teaser for ‘Macbeth’

Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in Macbeth

I’m completely okay with Michael Fassbender being the king.

The first teaser for Macbeth showed off his kinging abilities as well as his co-star, Marion Cotillard, as Lady Macbeth. The film is directed by Justin Kurzel and also stars David Thewlis, Elizabeth Debicki, Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, and Jack Reynor.

It has been a film that has been on many film fans’ most anticipated lists for this year and it looks like it could in fact deliver. Fassbender is frightening in the short clip as he shows how strong his presence can be on screen while Cotillard adds to the fact that two incredibly talented actors are leading this film. Not much was shown, but the visuals looked gorgeous and it should reassure those who were waiting to see something from it.

Macbeth is expected to hit theaters later this year after the premiere at Cannes.

MACBETH is the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire. A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic realities of the times and a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition, set in war torn Scottish landscape.
