Captain Kirk is jumping into the superhero craze.

The Wrap reported on Tuesday that Star Trek star Chris Pine has closed a deal to play the male lead in DC’s Wonder Woman alongside Gal Gadot. The site adds that the role will be Steve Trevor.

Pine was rumored to be weighing an offer to play Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman or Hal Jordan in Green Lantern, but according to The Wrap, it seems like there wasn’t really a choice — Pine was always looking at this project. Now, he joins Gal Gadot in the superhero picture that will follow the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (which just had a Comic-Con trailer) and Suicide Squad (which wowed people at Comic-Con with its trailer).

Wonder Woman has been in trouble behind-the-scenes, but seems to be righting the ship following the departure of Michelle MacLaren. Monster director Patty Jenkins is now directing and with Pine on board, it seems like the project is back on track.

The article also mentioned that the deal with Pine and DC is a multi-picture deal so he could be appearing in future films or Wonder Woman sequels.

Gal Gadot will appear as Wonder Woman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice prior to her solo film.
