One of the most recognizable entries in legendary actor Charlton Heston’s filmography was 1968’s Planet of the Apes. The success of the movie spawned a franchise exploring the world presented, a franchise that continued on even after Heston’s departure from it. With the last entry coming in 2001, many film fans were wary when news of a new entry in the series emerged. The 2011 film, however, served as a series reboot, going back to the early days of the ape evolution, and surprised many, enough to make people interested in a sequel, which was soon greenlit, titled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Matt Reeves takes over directing duties from Rupert Wyatt, with writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver joined by Mark Bomback and Scott Z. Burns. Joining the franchise this time around are Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Judy Greer, and Keri Russell, alongside Andy Serkis’ role as Caesar the ape. The first trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.
