Last week, Rick posted a link to the red band trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, and now we have a Green Band trailer. Drive, is based on a book of the same name by James Sallis, is a neo-noir thriller centered around a stunt driver played by Ryan Gosling who becomes embroiled in a heist. Joining Gosling is a supporting cast that includes Carey Mulligan, Sound On Sight first team All Star Bryan Crantson, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac, and Albert Brooks.
I think the film looks great. Refin won the Best Director prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where the film made it’s premiere to great acclaim. Refn previously directed Bronson, The Pusher Trilogy, and Valhalla Rising, a film I quite admired from last year. In fact I was so excited to see this film that I actually went out and bought the book. It’s a short book, barely over 100 pages, and it’s quite a quick read. The film has taken some liberties with the book but I can’t help but be excited.
