Easter Eggs From The ‘Green Lantern’ Trailer You Didn’t See and All New Stills
After the Green Lantern trailer appeared online this week, most people walked away feeling somewhat disappointed. While the scenes in space look great, the earth scenes appear to belong in a bad television series from the Sci-fi channel.
Despite my scepticism I did re-watch the trailer a half dozen or so times in search of some the classic characters from the comic book series that seem to be missing. It didn’t take long after browsing the net to uncover an article MTV published that unveiled some of the Easter eggs hidden within the trailer. Take a look at the photos below and try to guess what they are.
Carol Ferris has frequently battled Hal Jordan as Star Sapphire, a powerful being who wields a gem with powers similar to Green Lantern’s ring. You can see the symbol of the Star Sapphire in the trailer.
Considering the yellow-hued spiral in Hector Hammond’s eyes, it is safe to assume that Parallax will have a role to play in the movie.
Also the red tinge in Hector’s eyes might be a hint that the rage-fuelled Red Lanterns might have a part to play in Hector turning bad.
Right around the 2:09 mark in the trailer, there’s a shot of a purple-skinned Green Lantern. Some speculate it may be Sinestro having the encounter that finally makes him a source of fear instead of a Savior, while others believe it is Abin Sur taking the hit that eventually forces him to crash on Earth.
Below is the official synopsis for the film and some new images from the film. Enjoy.
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. The movie also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Jay O. Sanders, Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins.
