In 1981, Endless Love, based on the novel Scott Spencer, was released into theaters and was pretty much smashed by critics. Somebody must have enjoyed the film, though, since a trailer has just been released for its remake.
If the original had been released today, it likely would’ve been dubbed a Nicholas Sparks imitation and that makes this remake slightly intriguing, but more eye-roll inducing. Clearly there’s an audience for this or it wouldn’t have even been considered for a remake, probably the same audience that cries over The Notebook. Cue eye-rolling. The trailer makes the film look very formulaic, a total paint-by-the-numbers teenage romance. High school girls will probably get a kick out of it, but the rest will, well, see: eye-rolling.
Endless Love stars Alex Pettyfer, Gabriella Wilde, and Bruce Greenwood and will be released on February 14, 2014.
