It’s been nearly 40 years since the 1973 ABC telepic Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark terrified youngsters across the globe – one of them being a 9-year-old Guillermo del Toro, who has since cited it as a major influence on his career. Now comes a remake/re-imagination of that film, penned by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins, and directed by comic book artist Troy Nixey. I had the chance to catch the flick at Fantasia last month (read my review) and I strongly stand by my word, that it really is a perfect gateway into the world of horror films for a new generation waiting to discover the genre. Watch some clips from the film below, although I would recommend you don’t, and rather just see the movie when it is released. The choice is yours. via Twitch and Trailer Addict
