While the North American animation landscape has largely been cornered by Pixar Studios and Dreamworks Studios, the international animation landscape continues to thrive. One of the major figures is Japanese animated filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, whose Studio Ghibli productions have been the driving force behind numerous critically acclaimed films such as My Neighbor Totoro and Howl’s Moving Castle. Their feature From Up on Poppy Hill, which is the second directorial effort from Goro Miyazaki and is co-written by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa, has been seeing a gradual worldwide release since 2011, with a North American premiere expected later this year. An American trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.
