As yesterday’s formal HBO NOW announcement showed, the cable channel’s array of original programming has become enticing enough for many to allow for its own streaming service.
Among the channel’s more successful series is the sprawling fantasy tale Game of Thrones.
Adapted from George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the show is set to make its fifth season premiere on April 12th at 9 pm EST, with a sixth season already guaranteed by HBO.
Regular castmembers Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Natalie Dormer will return once again, with Kristian Nairn and Isaac Hempstead-Wright departing, and castmembers Alexander Siddig, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Jonathan Pryce joining the series, among others.
Alongside the announcement of the channel’s new streaming service, a new trailer for the upcoming season was released on Apple, in which Daenerys ominously threatens to smash the wheel of power.
