Earlier today Metal Gear Solid creator and director Hideo Kojima dropped what will be the final trailer he ever releases for the coveted series. An auteur in every sense of the word, Kojima’s trailer releases have been prolific for over a decade, garnering the kind of praise that is generally reserved only for the likes of Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorsese. Unfortunately for anyone who’s been following the very public Konami-Kojima debacle, this is also the end for him, and the true end for the series as far as most fans are concerned, even if Konami does plan to continue the series without him. With that in mind, it’s a bit of a bittersweet affair, as the video showcases a haunting theme and much of the run time plays as a series retrospective. Get ready for the end though, because ho-lee-crap!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be sneaking onto PS4 and Xbox One this very Tuesday.
