After releasing various stills of the upcoming period thriller The Raven, Relativity has now released the first official trailer. The film is not based on Poe’s iconic poem of the same name, but instead, is a Gothic mystery-thriller that sees the American author join forces with a detective, in order to track down and stop a serial killer using Poe’s own works as the basis for his murders. In the trailer, we learn of several gruesome killings, all of which leave behind clues to help solve the mystery.

The Raven was directed by James McTeigue, the helmer of V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin – not to mention, his uncredited work as director on the 2007 The Invasion. The film is set to open on March 9, 2012.

Thanks for posting the trailer Kyle!

It’s interesting that rather than tell the story of Poe it’s a murder-mystery based on ‘The Raven’. From the stills I’ve seen I didn’t see this one coming.

It looks like it’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ meets ‘The Bone Collector’, interesting enough concept but I can’t see myself heading off to the cinema to watch it.

    Maybe DVD, maybe.
