Kevin Smith Casts John Goodman in Horror Film

This week, writor/director Kevin Smith announced on his Smodcast, Babble-On with Ralph Garman, that he has casted John Goodman to star in his new horror film, Red State. Inspired by Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps, Michael Parks of Death Proof stars as the psychotic  preacher who runs up against a rough posse of teenagers and decides to show them what “extreme fundamentalism” really means.  Also starring Kevin Pollack, Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root and Melissa Leo; Red State is currently in production and is expected to be out early next year according to his tweet, “God-willing, Sundance in Jan for RED STATE.”
