While the Wachowski siblings are best known for their work on The Matrix trilogy, Andy and Lana Wachowski have also garnered a number of fans for their work on films such as Cloud Atlas, Speed Racer, and Bound. Netflix, in the meantime, has collaborated with a number of filmmakers on ongoing and upcoming projects, including David Fincher on House of Cards and Baz Luhrmann on the upcoming The Get Down. Netflix‘s next series, however, sees the Wachowskis make the transition to the small screen.

Titled Sense8, the series is co-created by the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski, and stars Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah, Freema Agyeman, and Doona Bae. The plot synopsis is as follows.

A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world’s order.

Ahead of the series premiere, Netflix has now released the first trailer for the series. The show’s first season will make its debut in its entirety on Netflix on June 5th, and the trailer can be seen below.
