During a 24 hour live-stream event, Atlus has revealed the first gameplay footage of Persona 5. That’s right, the game that is going to consume your life has just been seen for the first time!
Persona 5 is the newest JRPG from the guys at Atlus who have made the legendary RPGs Persona 3 and Persona 4. In the Persona games, RPG and simulation elements are intertwined. Players go through various dungeons and level grind like a typical RPG, but Persona also added a lot of other wrinkles to the formula. Based on the connections made with other characters in the world, the characters would become more powerful. It was like mixing a dating sim with a RPG and was completely amazing.
Well after countless spin-offs of the characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4, we’ve got a first look at some of the new characters we’ll be playing. The trailer introduces four main characters thus far that seem to be some kind of criminals. Not much is known outside of their character designs, but it looks like there’s a new mascot character to take the place of Teddy from P4.
The new trailer also showcases a new song from composer Shoji Meguro and some fantastic design aesthetic. No other developer seems to put that much effort into creating menus, but wow these menus just ooze style. Persona 5 is set to be released in 2015 on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. Hopefully that isn’t just the Japanese date, but also the plan for North America.
