No badge required: public events at San Diego Comic Con 2015

Didn’t get a badge for Comic Con? No problem. There are still plenty of events open to the public. From Happy Hour with your favorite Youtubers to battling Zombies as you zip through the streets, here is a rundown of free events you won’t want to miss.


Conival– Nerdist Industries returns to Comic Con this year in full force. Attendees will be able to battle for superiority in the custom Battleborn Laser Tag arena, get crafty with some robots, sit in for podcasts, play games, win prizes, and so much more!


Frieza’s Galactic Army Boot CampDragonball Z: Resurrection F is hosting Dragonball Z Fight for Frieza Galactic Army Boot Camp at Petco Park. Part of the Nerdist Conival, fans are welcome to join in a series of tests that will determine if their power level is high enough to join Frieza’s army. There will also be a daily happy hour event at Whiskey Girl in Downtown San Diego.

  • Frieza Force Boot Camp: Thursday- Sunday 11am-5pm
  • Happy Hour at Whiskey Girl: Thursday-Sunday 7pm-10pm


fx fear arenaFX Fearless Arena– Consuming the entire Hilton Bayfront Park next to the Convention center, this years FX arena reaches historic proportions. Massive theme park attractions for The Strain, American Horror Story: Hotel, Fargo, and The Bastard Executioner will provide fans with a truly immersive experience. There will be a number of on-site features including contests, collectables, and more.


Scouts driving pedi-cabs– Free rides around the Gaslamp District, the catch? You may have to deal with Zombie attacks before you reach your final destination. The cabs are available courtesy of Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, in theaters October 30, 2015. You can see exclusive clips from the film if you head over to the Interactive Zone at Petco Park and pick up a limited edition Scouts Badge.

Three scouts and lifelong friends join forces with one badass cocktail waitress to become the world’s most unlikely team of heroes. When their peaceful town is ravaged by a zombie invasion, they’ll fight for the badge of a lifetime and put their scouting skills to the test to save mankind from the undead.

LongLiveComics Party– LINE Webtoon-the leading digital comic service-will be hosting a SDCC party Friday and Saturday at Lou & Mickey’s. You can get a comic inspired makeover at the Comic Yourself station, send your pals custom gifs from the Gif Booth, play at the interactive stations, and recharge your phone and your body. Everyone who attends will get a free drink ticket!

nintendo sdcc 2015

Nintendo– Nintendo will be hosting a Family Fun Weekend at the San Diego Marriot Marquis &Marina (directly adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center). Everyone is welcome to try out games for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS and even compete in a tournament or two.

Villain Pub– It seems villains aren’t content with dominating the world, they have to rule over happy hour as well. Presented by the Youtube channel How It Should Have Ended at Henry’s Pub, Villain Pub is a real life reproduction of the animated pub where popular villains come to sulk in their defeat.

assassins creed syndicate

Assassin’s Creed Experience– Think you have what it takes to be a professional assassin? A life-size obstacle course is built from the upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at the MLK Promenade (next to the Hilton Gaslamp Hotel) will put players to the test.

Xbox LoungeIf you’re looking to try out some Xbox games ahead of your friends, make a bee-line for the Seaport Ballroom located on the second level of the Grand Manchester Hyatt, which will be filled with more than 90 gaming station featuring unreleased titles.
