NYFF 2011: ‘My Week With Marilyn’ Trailer

My Week With Marilyn will have it’s World Premiere at the 49th New York Film Festival this week, and you can be sure that we will have a review up shortly. The upcoming British drama, directed by TV veteran Simon Curtis and written by Adrian Hodges stars Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper and Emma Watson. Based on two books by Colin Clark, it depicts the making of the 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier. The film focuses on the week in which Monroe spent time being escorted around Britain by Clark, after her husband, Arthur ME

Synopsis: Colin Clark met Marilyn Monroe while working as a young assistant on Laurence Olivier’s “The Prince and the Showgirl.” When Marilyn experienced emotional difficulties during shooting, the 23-year-old third assistant director came to her aid and romance developed. But one week of honesty and fun was not enough to save the doomed star from self-destruction.
