Filmmaker Park Chan-Wook’s 2003 feature Oldboy has gained more than its share of critical acclaim in the decade since its release, with numerous film fans often listing the South Korean film as a must-see. Many were thus wary when a remake was announced by Hollywood studios. Their interest was piqued, however, when director Spike Lee signed on to helm the project, with Josh Brolin signing on soon after. Working from a script by Mark Protosevich, Brolin is joined onscreen by Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Lance Reddick, and Michael Imperioli. The first trailer for the film, also titled Oldboy, has now been released, and can be seen below. Note: The trailer is red-band.
