Paul Feig was already a well-known figure amongst comedy fans for his work on the short-lived cult favourite tv show Freaks and Geeks when he took on the directorial reins of the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids. Despite facing overwhelming pressure, the movie went on to become a major hit in the summer, bolstered heavily by a star-making performance from veteran actress Melissa McCarthy. Thus, it came as little surprise when Feig and McCarthy teamed up once again for Feig’s next project, titled The Heat. The movie marks the feature film screenwriting debut of Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold, and McCarthy is joined onscreen by Sandra Bullock, Kaitlin Olson, Michael Rapaport, Demian Bichir, Tony Hale, Bill Burr, and Nathan Corddry. The first trailer for the movie has now been released, and can be seen below.
