Robert Redford and Nick Nolte take ‘A Walk in the Woods’ in first trailer

If you want to see two old veteran actors kicking it on a hike along the Appalachian Trail, you’re in luck! The first trailer for A Walk in the Woods, which stars Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, was released today, . Here’s the synopsis:

After spending two decades in England, Bill Bryson returns to the U.S., where he decides the best way to connect with his homeland is to hike the Appalachian Trail with one of his oldest friends.

Directed by Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You and License to Wed), the film looks to be relatively up his alley, since he’s mostly known for directing comedy films and television shows. With that being said, the film is also based on the memoir by the actual Bill Bryson (played in the film by Robert Redford), so there’s hope that this comedy will be comedic and actually meaningful at the same time.

It’s safe to say that Robert Redford hasn’t really done a comedy before, which makes his choice to do this film a little odd (especially since his “oldest friend” is Nick Nolte). But with what the trailer shows, it looks to be a decently funny film that will undoubtedly have some heartfelt message about the importance of friendship. And Nolte and Redford seem to work well as an odd pair of friends. With surprising appearances by Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal and Mary Steenburgen, A Walk in the Woods will most likely appeal to the older demographic, but still admittedly looks like it could be a good time for whoever decides to go and see it.

A Walk in the Woods will be released in the US on September 2. Check out the trailer below:
