Ever thought what American Psycho would be like if Patrick Bateman worked in the music industry? Well there’s a good chance it would be something like Kill Your Friends, a new British comedy/thriller that had its first trailer released today. Directed by Owen Harris (episodes of Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Black Mirror) and based on the novel by John Niven (who also penned the screenplay), the film stars Nicholas Hoult, Ed Skrein, James Corden, Rosanna Arquette, and Craig Roberts. Here’s the synopsis:
An A&R man working at the height of the Britpop music craze goes to extremes in order to find his next hit.
Adding a bit of grit and thrill to a job that may not seem to possess those qualities on the surface, Kill Your Friends looks like quite a ride. Nicholas Hoult, a continuing rising star, is the lead of the film, a talent scouter in the music business in London who is all too willing to eliminate anyone who’s a threat (including his friends as the title suggests) to his growing career. The trailer packs a lot into one minute, but it’s just enough to give you a taste of how crazy fun this movie has the potential to be.
Kill Your Friends has no US release date yet but will hit TIFF in September. Check out the trailer below:
