Of course we’ve all wondered what our pets do when we leave them alone in the house. And now the folks behind the extremely successful Despicable Me films will answer that question for us in what looks to be a delightful and fun film, according to this first trailer for The Secret Life of Pets. Here’s the synopsis:
Taking place in a Manhattan apartment building, Max’s life as a favorite pet is turned upside down, when his owner brings home a sloppy mongrel named Duke. They have to put their quarrels behind when they find out that an adorable white bunny named Snowball is building an army of abandoned pets determined to take revenge on all happy-owned pets and their owners.
The film boasts a wide variety of voice acting talent from Louis C.K., Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Eric Stonestreet, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, and Albert Brooks. The film is also directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me and The Lorax) and Yarrow Cheney and is written by Ken Daurio, Cinco Paul, and Brian Lynch, all of who have written for the Despicable Me films.
While the trailer doesn’t reveal the plot of the film, the shenanigans that the pets get themselves into is entertaining enough that most people would probably be okay with that being the entire movie.
The Secret Life of Pets will hit theaters July 8, 2016. Check out the trailer below:
