‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, the sequel to the 2009 JJ Abrams-directed hit, releases its first trailer
The Star Trek franchise is one of the oldest running film and television franchises in the world, having made stars out of people like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Sir Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaton, and LeVar Burton. Despite this, the series seemed headed for its final death knell following 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis, until 2009’s Star Trek, boosted by direction from JJ Abrams and fresh faces as Kirk and Spock, in the form of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto respectively, breathed new life into it. Abrams has been confirmed to return for the sequel, titled Star Trek Into Darkness, along with Pine, Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, and Simon Pegg, with Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch playing the villain this time around, although his role has been kept under wraps. The first trailer for the movie has now been released, and can be seen below.
