While filmmaker Sam Raimi has had a prolific career working on everything from Westerns to Superhero films, his most ardent fans have stemmed from his work in the horror genre, specifically the Evil Dead series. Raimi himself has shown a similar fondness for the story, producing the 2013 remake of the series’ first film, titled Evil Dead. While the remake didn’t bring back Ash, the lead of the first trilogy, news soon emerged that Starz and Raimi were working on a tv series that would revisit and expand upon the world Raimi had created, bringing the iconic character in tow.
Titled Ash vs. Evil Dead, the series sees Bruce Campbell reprise the role he originated in the films, with Raimi onboard as executive producer, director, and writer. Army of Darkness co-writer Ivan Raimi is also part of the series as producer and writer, and the show co-stars Xena‘s Lucy Lawless and Sleepy Hollow‘s Jill Marie Jones. A premiere date has yet to be announced, but Starz has now unveiled the first teaser for the series, which promises a fall premiere. The teaser can be seen below, along with the show’s official poster.
