Is every actor in Hollywood in this movie?
The first trailer for The Big Short dropped on Tuesday and director Adam McKay’s housing drama will feature the likes of Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, Karen Gillan, and Marisa Tomei.
The official synopsis is as follows:
When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.
The story is based on the book by Michael Lewis, whose has two successful movie properties with Moneyball and The Blind Side. It definitely has a Moneyball feel to it with a hint of Wolf of Wall Street to heighten the mood. It is also different ground for director Adam McKay, who is mostly known for comedies with Will Ferrell such as Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers.
Regardless, the trailer looks fun and this adds another Oscar potential film to the Christmas slate.
The Big Short opens in limited release on December 11 and wider on December 23.
