As the 2015 incarnation of the Sundance Film Festival is gearing up, with the slate of movies announced over the past few days, some movies that made their debut at Sundance 2014 are still finding their way to the public. One movie that has yet to make its premiere outside the festival circuit is Appropriate Behavior. The film marked the feature acting, directing, and writing debut of Desiree Akhavan, and centres around a bisexual Brooklyn woman of Persian heritage in her 20s who tries to figure out her identity following a breakup and with her brother’s marriage looming. Despite a subject matter that could have been heavy, the film’s first clip indicated that Akhavan hadn’t forgotten to add humor to the proceedings, and the film’s premise, combined with its critical reception, put it on the list of unacquired Sundance 2014 films we hoped to see someday. Ahead of the film’s release in American theatres and VOD on January 16th, 2015, the first trailer has now been released, and can be seen below.
