The Televerse #63- Battlestar Galactica with Josh Spiegel

After missing last week’s fantastic Treme, we make it up by putting the series in the spotlight to discuss both “Promised Land”, the previous episode, and “Don’t You Leave Me Here”, this week’s installment. Before that, though, we talk through a somewhat disappointing week in TV, with both Kate and Simon ready to break up with a couple shows. We take looks at the Top Chef Seattle premiere, Key and Peele, South Park, Supernatural, Nashville, Parks and Rec, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, Childrens Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV::, The Vampire Diaries, Last Resort, Grimm, Fringe, The Amazing Race, Bob’s Burgers, The Good Wife, Homeland, The Voice, and Revolution. Then we head over to the DVD Shelf with returning guest Josh Spiegel of Mousterpiece Cinema to take a look at perhaps the best argument for remakes, the soon-to-be sci-fi classic Battlestar Galactica (2003).

I just caught up with this podcast, and it was great to hear such an extended conversation on BSG. It makes me ready to go back and watch it all again. I’m more in line with Kate in still liking the show even when it gets more into the mysticism. I agree that certain episodes fall flat, especially after they leave New Caprica in S3. Even so, there’s still a lot to like because of the characters. Great discussion!
