‘The Walk’, Robert Zemeckis’ new film, gets a trailer

The Walk

The story of Philippe Petit is a familiar one to many cinema fans, as the tale of the man who walked along a net-free tightrope between the World Trade Centre towers in 1974 was chronicled in the 2008 documentary Man on Wire. Not content with James Marsh’s recounting of the events, however, filmmaker Robert Zemeckis recently announced that he would be telling the tale himself in fictionalised form. Based on Petit’s book To Walk the Clouds, Zemeckis also co-wrote the screenplay with Christpher Browne, along with directing it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was soon cast in the role of Petit, with the supporting cast filled out by Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon, and James Badge Dale. The first trailer for the feature, which will play in both 3D and IMAX 3D, has now been released, and can be seen below. The film is set for a US release on October 2nd, 2015.
