Week after week, the shelves of local comic book stores nationwide are packed to brim with shiny new comics. Sure you’re a smart cookie and probably have tonnes of grabs already but many books do go unnoticed and its my job to make sure you are getting your moneys worth. I could ramble on for a bit but I sincerely doubt you’re still reading this paragraph and have long since scrolled down to the good bits– SO without further to do, enjoy and note this is preference, what’s exciting to me may not be exciting to you and hey friend, I’m OK with that:
Hellboy in Hell #5 | PICK OF THE WEEK!
While Mignola and company have been pumping out BPRD after BPRD, its always a special occasion when the main man returns to his flagship franchise. With the end of the world really flippin’ nigh, it’ll be interesting to see if Hellboy remains down below or if he can find a way to return up top. But none of that matters because Mike Mignola is drawing this bad boy and its going to be gorgeous.
New 52 Superman is finally in the right hands. This issue marks the first true debut of Greg Pak’s Action Comics run free of any tie-ins or Villian Month 3D shenanigans. But what’s even more exciting than Pak is Aaron Kuder’s art. Last month’s issue was a visual treat and I for one can’t wait to see how high this new creative team can soar.
So you haven’t been reading Green Arrow? OK let’s correct that mistake shall we?! Writer Jeff Lemire, backed by artiste extraordinaire Andrea Sorrentino, kicks off a new arc that no one should be missing. Take one part Batman Begins, add in a dollop of Indiana Jones with just a hint a of Sandman and baby, you got Green Arrow #26.
Peter Parker is in this book that is being written by Matt Kindt with art by Marco Rudy. Buy it.
You know what this is? This is the absolute longest gap there will be till the next major Marvel event. This is exciting for people who hate events. But we still have to deal with some fallout from the last one. If you’ve never checked out any of the previous incarnation of the Inhumans, now is a great time to do so. Let’s hope that Matt Fraction can continue his hot streak and bring a bit of that ol’ Hawkguy charm along with him.
