TIFF 2011: Films We Are Most Looking Forward To: First teaser for Giorgos Lanthimos’s ‘Alps’

Are you sick of trailers that tell and show you everything? Our first look at Giorgos Lanthimos’s highly anticipated (by SOS, at least) follow-up to Dogtooth, the delightfully screwy-looking Alps, offers 50 seconds of non-sequiturs, cryptic humor, and what appears to be some brutal nastiness – but it’s craftily edited to tell us not much of anything at all, except to expect a serious mindfuck. And, hey, it premieres at TIFF next month!

A brief synopsis, followed by that new trailer:

A Nurse, a Paramedic, a Gymnast and her Coach have formed a service for hire. They stand in for dead people by appointment, hired by the relatives, friends, or colleagues of the deceased. The company is called Alps while their leader, the Paramedic, calls himself Mont Blanc.
