Jean-Baptiste Leonetti’s dystopic science fiction film Carre Blanc premiered at Cannes to some extremely positive reviews but we’ve been told not to write too heavily on the plot as to not spoil it for anyone. The film is the debut of writer-director Leonetti, and follows the life of Phillipe, first as a young man recovering from his attempted suicide, then as a grown, seemingly respectable member of society. So in short, the film is a moody, arty and entirely engrossing. TIFF describes it as a series of bizarre performance tests in a dystopian, Tarkovsky-esque sci-fi and surreal dark fantasy. Here is the trailer.
