TIFF 2011: Films We Are Most Looking Forward To: Trailer for ‘The Artist’
The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius, and starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo had critics and audiences stunned at its beauty and throwback to classic Hollywood story telling. The black-and-white silent film follows George Valentin (Jean Dujardin), a silent-era film star struggling to make it in the talkies. Dujardin won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered and Mark Adams of Screen Daily called the film “a real pleasure”; “propelled elegantly forward by delightful performances from Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo it is the most unlikely of feel-good movies.” The Artist makes my list of most anticipated films to see at TIFF – what looks to be a witty and visually enthralling homage to early cinema with supporting performances by Malcolm MacDowell, John Goodman and James Cromwell. Here is the trailer. Enjoy!
