TIFF 2013: Watch the Press Conference for ’12 Years A Slave’

We here at Sound On Sight have been championing writer/director Steve Mcqueen ever since we launched our site back in 2008. His first feature film Hunger, the unflinching, uncompromising, vivid and vital, look at the final months of Bobby Sands, cracked our top five films in 2008. His follow up Shame, a snapshot of a tumultuous life of a sex addict living in New York City, also cracked our top five films in 2011. Now McQueen is back with his third feature, 12 Years A Slave – also starring his muse/lead actor Michael Fassbender. The film has received mostly positive reviews ever since it premiered at Telluride, but surprisingly our very own Simon Howell was luke warm in his review, stating, “12 Years a Slave can’t match the intensity of McQueen’s first two features. We’ll give Simon a pass for his well written review, because in the end, 12 Years A Slave is one of the must see films of 2013. The recent press conference from the Toronto International Film Festival was filmed and just released on TIFF’s YouTube channel. This is recommended viewing for any fan of the filmmaker or film in general. Enjoy!
