Track of the Day: ‘Barton Hollow’ by Civil Wars

Maybe I’ve been watching a little too much Justified but I’m really loving the gorgeous, haunting and minimalist sounds of The Civil Wars, an indie folk duo composed of singer-songwriters Joy Williams and John Paul White. The duo met during a Nashville, Tennessee songwriting session and gained national exposure when their song Poison and Wine was played on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy in late 2009. The band later got a boost when Taylor Swift and later Adele tweeted about them.
