Track of the Day: Electrelane, ‘The Valleys’

For nearly a decade, hard-to-classify UK band Electrelane was one of the most interesting, diverse and singular acts of their time, at once immediately identifiable and beholden to a wide range of influences. When they split up in 2007 following the release of No Shouts / No Calls, discerning music fans the world over had good reason to be upset. Now they’re back – sort of. They recently reformed to play a series of festivals in the UK. While we wait in the possibly-vain hope of new material, here’s one of their signature tracks, the Chicago A Capella-assisted stunner “The Valleys,” from their 2003 breakthrough The Power Out.
