Trailer and Clips from ‘Mud’, the latest from ‘Take Shelter’ Director Jeff Nichols
Today, Roadside Attractions has released the first trailer for Mud, a coming-of-age tale directed by Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter) and starring Matthew McConaughey. The film received critical acclaim during it’s festival run in 2012 with many critics calling it the director’s finest achievement to date,
a rich, sweet slice of Americana which is part Huckleberry Finn and part Badlands.
Tye Sheridan (Tree of Life) and newcomer Jacob Lofland star as Ellis and Neckbone, a pair of friends who find a mysterious man named Mud (McConaughey) hiding out in on an island in the Mississippi. Mud describes fantastic scenarios — he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper, who is waiting for him in town. Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow.
Mud opens in limited release April 26.
