Danny Boyle made his big-screen directorial debut with Shallow Grave, one of the best thrillers made in the 90’s, but he only really launched into the spotlight with his next effort,Trainspotting. Ever since, the director has constantly reinvented himself, gaining a massive following and eventually directing Slumdog Millionaire, which went on to win eight Oscars. Now he’s back with what seems to be a pure genre exercise. Following last summer’s Olympic opening ceremony (which he directed), Boyle shot Trance, a gangland heist thriller starring James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel. The film, which is a loose remake of a made-for-TV-movie, follows an art auctioneer who has become mixed up with a group of criminals and a hypnotherapist in order to recover a lost painting.
