Trailer: Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Twixt’ looks suitably eccentric

Any trailer that features Tom Waits narration can’t be all bad, but we all have the right to be less than sure about Twixt, the new and seemingly semi-autobiographical vampire detective story (?!) from American icon Francis Ford Coppola. On one hand, his last movie, Tetro, was a surprise return to form and almost certainly his best in decades. On the other hand, this trailer much more strongly evokes the wacky hijinx of the not-so-great Youth Without Youth, only with Val Kilmer taking the bullet this time around instead of Tim Roth. (One for the plus column, though: Elle Fanning as some sort of ghoulie.) Judge for yourself – the three-and-a-half minute trailer is below, and the movie premieres at TIFF this fall.
