Author, artist and very occasional filmmaker Miranda July hasn’t made a movie since 2005’s Me and You and Everyone We Know. In the interim, countless quirky indie dramedies have come and gone, but few can match that film’s sense of humor, poignacy, and creative abandon. Now she’s finally back with her Sundance hit The Future, which seems to match Me and You‘s oddball tendencies.

Here is the official plot synopsis:

The Future tells the story of a thirty-something couple who, on deciding to adopt a stray cat, change their perspective on life, literally altering the course of time and testing their faith in each other and themselves.
