One of the freakiest, most out-there genre movies in recent memory, Beyond the Black Rainbow is by turns mysterious, eerie, surreal, blackly funny and utterly confounding. Since it premiered at Tribeca last year, eager cinephiles have flocked to see it, only for most to leave with melted brains and a distinct shortage of appreciation. (For my part, it was one of two Canadian genre movies that cracked my top 10 of 2011, along with the inimitable You Are Here.) Now it’s got a proper trailer which gives a pretty good idea of what the movie’s like, though of course there’s no substitute for the full 115-minute mindfuck. The new spot is below; check the movie out whenever and wherever possible.
