Paul Haggis is back in the director’s chair for The Next Three Days, an upcoming thriller coming out in November.
The film is a remake of a French film by the name of Pour Elles, which follows a man as he attempts to break his wife- who claims to have been wrongly convicted as a murderer- out of prison. Fast-paced with a good looking balance of action and drama, The Next Three Days features stars such as Russell Crowe (3:10 to Yuma, A Beautiful Mind), Elizabeth Banks (40 Year Old Virgin, Meet Bill), Liam Neeson (Taken, Chloe), and Olivia Wilde (House, Year One).
While watching the trailer I had a lingering reminiscence of the movie Taken, which also stars Liam Neeson. While the film doesn’t necessarily follow the same premise, the overall dramatic and just-enough-action feel is definitely the same. While Neeson appears to have a large role in this particular trailer as a supporting character, Olivia Wilde is noticeably missing which is interesting.
Now it may just be me, but the age old question many films ask of “What would you do for someone you love”, just never gets tiring to watch. You can look forward to seeing The Next Three Days in theatres November 19th this year.
