Yahoo released the trailer for one of my most anticipated movies of next year, Hanna directed by Joe Wright. The film tells the story of Hanna (Saoirse Ronan), raised by her father (Eric Bana) to become an assassin. The film also stars Cate Blanchett, presumably playing the villain, and Olivia Williams. A couple things intrigued me about this project when it was first announced. The script made the Black List, Hollywood’s annual yearly list of the best unproduced screenplays, in 2006 and 2009. However the more intriguing thing was the fact that Wright, who directed Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, was directing. Atonement was a big step forward from Pride & Prejudice and I look forward to seeing what he can do with an action movie. He is clearly not interested in repeating himself. The trailer looks really promising and I am already looking forward to the soundtrack alone, as it is being scored by The Chemical Brothers. Attached below is the trailer and the official synopsis.
Raised by her father, an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland, Hanna’s upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own. As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.
