FilmDistrict has released twenty new posters for Spike Lee‘s remake of Oldboy, with each poster marking a year in the main character, John Doucett’s twenty year imprisonment. Each year is marked by one event ranging from 9/11 to the Occupy Wall Street movement. The viral marketing campaign for director Spike Lee’s reinterpretation has been pretty impressive so far. We recently promoted a series of great posters for the film, and a slick teaser, but this trumps everything that came prior. Spike Lee‘s new version of Oldboy stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Lance Reddick, Michael Imperioli, and James Ransone. Oldboy opens in theaters on November 27th.
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
