Violence and bad language abound in red band trailer for ‘Triple 9’

Talk about your super violent cop/mob movies. The first trailer for crime thriller Triple 9 was released yesterday in all of its red band glory. Boasting an extremely impressive cast including Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Norman Reedus, Anthony Mackie, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Aaron Paul, the film is helmed by The Road and Lawless director John Hillcoat with a script by Matt Cook. Here’s the synopsis:

A gang of criminals and corrupt cops plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull off their biggest heist yet across town.

While it’s hard to get a sense of story from the trailer, it sure gets across the vibe of the movie: violent insanity. The action looks thrilling, but most people are probably itching to see how all of these great actors are utilized and how they work off each other. It might not end up being more than an ultra violent heist movie, but at least there’s guaranteed to be good acting.

Triple 9 hits US theaters February 19 of next year. Check out the trailer below:
