The Walking Dead is back from its latest midseason hiatus with its first episode since the announcement of Glen Mazzara’s sacking. “The Suicide King” sees Merle and Darryl properly reunited, Andrea marshalling the people of Woodbury, The Governor in a funk, and Rick going a tiny bit bonkers. Will the talk-heavy episode drive Ricky, Kate and Simon into post-apocalyptic frenzy?

Rick Has slowly been losing his mind – which is completely normal and makes sense. Shane was NOT going crazy because he was infected. Some positive talk about the show would help – I tuned in because I was excited the show was back and you guys were a bunch of downers.

    1. Kate Kulzick says

Hey LolaBelle. Thanks for listening! Sorry about the bummer factor. That’s on me- I actually did like this episode quite a bit, but I didn’t do a good enough job expressing that on the ‘cast. I’ll try to do a better job in the future, should I find myself as the odd man out in the positive camp again.

  2. Ricky says

    Hey Lori,

I agree with your comment. I’ve said previously on the podcast, that Rick is perhaps one of the characters who remains consistent. However I do think, the show often has characters make drastic decisions or change in big ways, in so little time. I can say that Rick’s character goes through similar changes in the comic as well. With that said, I think as adapted to television, there are better ways to address his mental breakdown. The episode titled “Hounded” was fantastic. I love how Hershel caught Rick talking to a ghost on the telephone. But the ending of this episode was poor in execution. Grant it, I was very entertained and laughed pretty hard but I don’t think that is the reaction the showrunners wanted from an audience. Thanks for listening.

  3. Lori C says

    Regarding Rick’s vision of Lori…

Think you guys are failing to remember that Rick saw Shane (Jon Bernthal) at Woodbury as one of the gun-wielding opponents. To the characters in the show, the Woodbury battle happened just hours ago, so it is consistent for Rick to see Lori.

Rewatch the midseason finale and then Suicide King and the continuity will be evident.
