Watch Adele’s music video ‘Hello’ directed by Xavier Dolan

Early this morning, Adele dropped the first single from her new album, 25, along with her first music video since 2011 directed by Montreal filmmaking wunderkind Xavier Dolan. The six-minute video for “Hello” was shot in the beautiful Montreal countryside using IMAX cameras and stars Tristan Wilds (The Wire).

“It was a privilege to direct the music video for Adele’s beautiful, heartbreaking song ‘Hello,’” Dolan said in a statement. “When I first heard it, all the images appeared clearly in my head – and her trust and generosity allowed me to work with abandon artistically and emotionally, like she always does. It made me extremely proud.”

In an interview on Apple’s Beats1 Radio, Adele described the experience as inspiring and unlike any of her previous shoots. “It was incredible working with him,” she told host Zane Lowe. “I learned a lot and it made me want to be an actress. He had me crying and acting… and I’m really, really proud of it. It’s not like a groundbreaking video in terms of effects and dance moves, but it’s my best video and I’m so proud of it.”
